Fond
of photography and nature, Jean-Michel Sotto's
library gathers thousands of pictures on subjects
like domestic and wild animals (cats, dogs,
horses, birds, wild cats) as well as landscapes
(seashores and mountains) with special attention
to the French areas such as Brittany, where
he lives, and Savoy for its treks towards
the higher lakes. |

In
1996, as a member of the association of "The
friends of the Zoo of Pont-Scorff" (Morbihan
- France), he produced a promotional film
for this country park through which he discovered
a real passion for animals photography. He
specialized in domestic animals shooting in
1998. His talent has been recognised since
then by well-known publishers for whom he
illustrated greeting cards, postcards, heading
paper, tablemats, and other calendars and
diaries.
Whereas
landscape photography requires an excellent
sense for lighting and a lot of patience -
which involves hours of searching for the
ideal spot - animal photography requires more
of man's instinct. It needs very quick reactions
to shoot a subject which will not let the
photographer decide when or where it has decided
to move.
As
for the photos of pets, Jean-Michel Sotto
is assisted by his spouse Helene, who is the
perfect assistant for choosing the scenery
or to produce a spectacular trouble-free entry
for kittens and puppies, for our greatest
pleasure. |
Lately,
they added a string to their bow : the Teddy
Bears Gallery, a much quieter species
to photograph than the usual ones : The daily
life of teddy bears in family, playing, at
work, at school, in town as well as in the
countryside.
Who said that the animal photography is an
easy one? Proof of the pudding : After a long
shooting session, a nap is necessary for both
the photographer and the model !
